Job purpose

We are looking for an accomplished, dynamic and experienced QA Consultant to join our exciting digital agency. This role will suit someone who wants to work and be involved with the latest and most exciting technologies available, delivering business transforming digital solutions in a progressive and collaborative Agile Development Environment. The Senior QA Consultant is responsible for the testing of products and services developed by NRX Digital and/or its technology partners to ensure they meet the specified functional, performance, security, reliability and other requirements and are, as far as practical, free from design defects and fit for purpose.

This role will work on all aspects of QA from requirements review to final delivery.  This is a diverse role, offering the opportunity to work on a range of our clients’ digital solutions.

Responsibilities

The Senior QA Consultant plays a critical role within our solution development teams. You will ensure that all software meets the needs and requirements of its end-users. The successful candidate will be able to quickly learn new solutions and technologies so that these products can be extensively tested and evaluated before releasing to production. This includes working collaboratively with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Developers and stakeholders whilst developing test plans around user story requirements. The Senior QA Consultant will generate test plans, test scripts and test results and defects for resolution. Upon resolution the Senior QA Consultant will verify that the software meets the acceptance criteria and satisfies the client’s requirements. The role will be responsible for generating any documentation that is required for the QA processes as well as final delivery. The successful candidate will need to show a strong sense of quality ownership making sure that quality is baked in from the start and will have a proven track record of being able to deliver high quality software.

The Senior QA Consultant will work in collaboration with the Technical Director to mould the QA processes, tools and services employed within QA to deliver against the changing demands within a digital agency. They will be proactive and demonstrate a forward-thinking attitude to help shape the QA team at NRX Digital.

The role reports to the Technical Director:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating, maintaining and execution of test plans and test scripts.
  • Test execution with the understanding of which bugs are critical to the end-user.
  • Track defects in industry standard software/solutions i.e. the Microsoft Toolset for any new and existing bugs in the system. Includes prioritization and targeting.
  • Verify bug fixes have passed on new builds.
  • Test, troubleshoot and resolve with different departments complex problems in the software.
  • Regularly identify usability problems and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Generate, review and update user documentation.
  • Delivery of QA documentation for the delivery process.
  • Focus on continuous QA improvements including usage of appropriate testing tools and test techniques.
  • Build and maintain quality standards as well as enforcing technical and testing standards.
  • Gather and present testing metrics and testing activities for the projects to key stakeholders as and when required.

Required skills and Experience

  • 5+ years testing experience and working within an Agile software department environment. Experience of working in a digital environment is desirable.
  • At least qualified to ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Level, Intermediate Level preferred.
  • A Dynamic individual with the ability to manage tasks on multiple projects to the quality required.
  • Exceptional communication skills, to include written, oral and active listening.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Full commitment to continuous improvement of processes and deliverables.
  • Problem solving skills – expected to solve problems of considerable technical complexity, as well as frequently being able to solve problems in cases where specifications are inexact or incomplete.
  • Able to identify and implement solutions to problems with a minimum amount of management supervision.
  • Demonstrate excellent documentation skills and clearly communicate findings and results.
  • Pro-active, highly motivated and a strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Strong ownership and responsibility for a project or task of high importance and see it through to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail with an eye to spot the ambiguous.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft test tools such as Microsoft Test Manager, web performance and load testing and coded UI automation.
    • A professional individual who is self-motivated and enthusiastic.
    • Building and maintaining relationships at all levels within the organisation and with clients as appropriate.
    • The ability to prioritise work and tasks under pressure.
